Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang declared that “the age of AI has begun” during a speech on Saturday, where he received an honorary doctorate in engineering from the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology. Huang, who leads the world’s top producer of AI chips, was honored alongside notable figures such as actor Tony Leung, Nobel Prize-winning chemist Prof. Michael Levitt, and Fields Medal recipient Prof. David Mumford.

“This is a new computing era that will impact every industry and scientific field,” Huang said. “The world is at a reset point, and you are at the starting line with everyone else. You now have the tools to advance science and tackle some of the greatest challenges of our time, challenges that once seemed insurmountable.”
Huang, 61, shared that he wished he could have started his career in this exciting era, where AI has unlocked unprecedented opportunities. Later in the day, he was scheduled to join a fireside chat with the university’s Council Chairman Harry Sham, faculty, and students.
