PM Modi Welcomed in Brazil with a Blend of Indian Chants and Brazilian Samba Beats
Prime Minister Narendra Modi received a vibrant and spiritually rich welcome in Brasilia, where tradition met rhythm in a stunning cultural blend. The Indian diaspora and Brazilian performers joined hands to present an extraordinary performance featuring the Shiva Tandava Stotram set against the lively backdrop of Brazilian Samba Reggae beats — a celebration of unity through diversity.
The event, attended by members of the Indian community and Brazilian citizens alike, highlighted the growing cultural ties between the two nations. The fusion performance also included Amazonian chants, offering a unique musical expression that bridged the sacred energies of Indian Vedic tradition and indigenous Brazilian spirituality.
✨ Spiritual Fusion Moves the Audience
Padma Shri Jonas Masetti, a leading Vedanta teacher in Brazil, called the moment “deeply moving and transformative.”
“This is a tremendous opportunity to express our deep gratitude to India. Vedanta is not just changing individual lives here — it’s transforming our society.”
Jyoti Kiran Shukla, Director of the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR), praised the program as a “rare and beautiful confluence of cultures.” She noted the intriguing similarities between Amazonian and Vedic chants, which researchers at the Vivekananda Centre are currently exploring through linguistic and spiritual studies.
🧘 Voices from the Ground
Yoga teacher Kenlyn, who attended the performance, described it as “an honour” to witness such a profound cultural event.
“Though I wasn’t performing, being part of this moment and feeling the energy in the presence of Prime Minister Modi was unforgettable.”
A performer and long-time Vedanta student added:
“I’ve studied Vedanta for nearly a decade with Acharya Jonas Masetti. Chanting in front of PM Modi was incredibly meaningful. These mantras have shaped my inner life.”
PM Modi Expresses Gratitude
Touched by the warm welcome, Prime Minister Modi posted on X:
“Landed in Brasilia a short while ago. The Indian community accorded a memorable welcome, once again highlighting how passionate our community is and how connected they remain with their roots.”
The visit to Brasilia comes after a productive BRICS Summit in Rio de Janeiro. Modi was received at the airport by Brazil’s Defence Minister Jose Mucio Monteiro Filho. During his stay, PM Modi will hold bilateral discussions with President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva, focusing on India-Brazil cooperation across trade, culture, and global development.
