Chirag Paswan Blasts Bihar Govt After Patna Businessman’s Murder, Raises Law and Order Concerns

Union Minister Chirag Paswan has launched a scathing attack on the Nitish Kumar-led Bihar government, which is also a part of his own NDA alliance, following the broad daylight murder of businessman Gopal Khemka in Patna. The killing, which occurred outside the victim’s residence in a high-profile locality, has once again brought Bihar’s deteriorating law and order into sharp focus.

Speaking to the media, Paswan, who heads the Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas), said the current situation in Bihar is deeply alarming and reflects a failure in governance by a state government that was once praised for administrative efficiency.

“It’s not just about the murder of a businessman. The incident took place in a well-guarded, posh area of Patna, close to the homes of several political leaders. If this can happen in the capital, imagine the condition in rural Bihar,” Paswan remarked.

NDA Ally Questions Its Own Government

Paswan’s statement is significant, considering his party is a part of the ruling NDA coalition in Bihar. His remarks appear to mirror public concern over rising crime rates, especially in the run-up to the 2025 Bihar Assembly elections.

“It’s deeply unfortunate that a government known for its governance capabilities is failing to maintain basic law and order. This must be rectified with strong, exemplary action so that similar crimes do not occur again,” he asserted.

 SIT Formed; Opposition Mounts Pressure

The Bihar Police has formed a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to probe Khemka’s killing. Meanwhile, the incident has triggered a political storm. Tejashwi Yadav of the opposition RJD echoed Paswan’s concerns and took it a step further, alleging that lawlessness and corruption are now routine in the state.

“There have been over 65,000 murders under the NDA regime in Bihar. If this doesn’t make people angry, then it reflects a dangerous collapse in our sense of justice and collective conscience,” Tejashwi said.

Nitish Kumar Reviews Situation, Jail Raids Conducted

Reacting to the outcry, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar held a high-level law and order review meeting on Saturday, ordering an expedited investigation into the murder.

Simultaneously, Patna Police raided Beur Jail, suspecting possible links between inmates and the crime. During the raid, officers seized three mobile phones, SIM cards, a data cable, and a note with several phone numbers—raising suspicions of a criminal network operating from behind bars.
