Passenger Slapped Mid-Flight Found 800 km Away at Assam Railway Station

A man who went missing after being slapped by a fellow passenger during a panic attack on an IndiGo flight has been found at Barpeta railway station in Assam, nearly 800 km from Kolkata—where the plane landed—and about 400 km from his intended destination, Silchar.

📌 Incident on the Flight

Hussain Ahmed Majumdar, 32, from Assam’s Cachar district, was traveling from Mumbai to Silchar on IndiGo flight 6E-138. Midway through the flight, he suffered a panic attack and was being assisted by the cabin crew when another passenger, Hafijul Rahman, suddenly slapped him.

A viral video shows Rahman striking Majumdar, later justifying his action by claiming the man was “causing problems.”

Upon landing in Kolkata, Rahman was detained by police but later released. Majumdar left the airport soon after.

Majumdar was scheduled to take a connecting flight from Kolkata to Silchar the following day. His family—unaware of the mid-air incident—waited at Silchar Airport to receive him, but he never arrived.

Repeated calls from his family went unanswered as his phone was switched off. Police investigations revealed he had not boarded the Silchar flight and had not departed from Kolkata Airport since.

🚆 Found in Barpeta

Authorities eventually traced Majumdar to Barpeta railway station in Assam. Police said he appeared unwell and was being escorted back home.

🚫 Action Against the Attacker

IndiGo has announced a flying ban on Hafijul Rahman for unruly behavior.

“The safety and well-being of our customers and crew remain our foremost priority. In line with our commitment to discourage such unruly behaviour onboard flights, the individual has been suspended from flying on any IndiGo flights, in accordance with regulatory provisions,” the airline said in a statement.
